The rule, in one paragraph
These faces install through Watch Face Push, which arrived with Wear OS 6 — the release Samsung ships as One UI 8 Watch. That makes the requirement the software on the watch, not the model number. Any Galaxy Watch running Wear OS 6 or newer can use them, and one running anything older cannot, however recent the hardware is.
In practice that means Galaxy Watch 4 and newer, because the Watch 4 was the first Galaxy Watch built on Wear OS at all. Samsung finished pushing One UI 8 Watch to every eligible model in December 2025, so no supported watch is still waiting for it — but an individual watch that has never taken the update is still stuck until it does.

What is not supported
The Galaxy Watch 3 and the Gear series run Tizen rather than Wear OS, and Samsung never offered them a Wear OS upgrade. That boundary is hardware and platform, not a rollout still in progress, so it will not move.
